Diraq Leadership Named to UNESCO’s Inaugural ‘Quantum 100’

The International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ 2025) has officially named Diraq Founder and CEO, Professor Andrew Dzurak, to the inaugural Quantum 100. This global initiative, endorsed by UNESCO, recognises the 100 most influential figures shaping the future of quantum technology across academia, industry, and policy.

The selection highlights Andrew Dzurak’s role as a leading architect of silicon-based quantum computing. Over more than two decades, his work has been pivotal in proving that the path to a scalable quantum future doesn't require reinventing the fabrication, it requires the same silicon foundation that powered the digital revolution.

Building on foundational work developed at UNSW Sydney, Andrew Dzurak founded Diraq in 2022, with a goal to deliver utility-scale quantum computers with processors manufactured using established chip fabrication infrastructure. His recognition follows a series of major milestones for the company, including industry-leading advances in qubit control and foundry-compatible fabrication.

"I'm incredibly honoured to be named as one of the Quantum 100 in honour of the incredible scientists who, 100 years ago, developed the principles of quantum mechanics," said Professor Andrew Dzurak, Founder and CEO of Diraq. “At Diraq, we are working to make utility-scale quantum computing a reality. Quantum computers will help address the biggest challenges we face as a society, from climate change to improving human health. There’s never been a more exciting time in quantum science.”

The Quantum 100 also recognised Diraq Board Director Dr William Zeng, a partner at Quantonation and a prominent figure within the international quantum ecosystem. Dr Zeng has held influential roles across quantum cloud development and venture investment, and his strategic guidance continues to support Diraq as it advances its commercial roadmap.

The announcement marks 100 years since the foundations of quantum mechanics were established. For Diraq, the recognition of both its founder and a key board member underscores the company’s influence as it translates scientific breakthroughs into the next era of high-performance computing.
