Coupling a Ge nuclear spin to an electrostatically defined quantum dot
A demonstration that a germanium-73 atomic nucleus, implanted into a silicon chip, can be coupled to and read out via a nearby electrically controlled quantum dot. The strength of the coupling can be tuned simply by adjusting nearby electrode voltages. This large nucleus offers more internal states than conventional qubits, and could eventually lead to quantum memories and long-range interactions between spins.
